90's Btcc touring cars

Who watched or had interest in the late 90's Btcc and what was your favourite race car. My father and i played the toca touring car game and between the real racing on Tv and the game itself he went out and bought a 99 primera sri - then he gave it to me as my first car. Anyone similarly influenced by the btcc

I have photos (actual) of the Tarquini/Larini ones that lapped the Phoenix Park circuit in record time IIRC.
Granted they might have been DTM variants?
Speaking of which I liked the look of the calibra DTMs at the time. (Apologies if the thread intent was only BTCC)

BTCC in the 90s and into the early 00s was the height of motorsport entertainment, the races were always entertaining and exciting and there was plenty of characters amongst the drivers.
I did miss the Vovlo estates when they switched them for the S40s, for a week or two I thought they were calling them something like "the new Volvo S Sporty" before realising it was S40.
I did love the A4 when they came in, a guy who lived near me bought a silver one when they came out and was the first car that I really wanted. They seemed to disappear quite quickly though, you never seen too many of them say 10 years later
