Positions being put on hold

Has anyone had experience of this? I've gone for a few interviews over the last couple of months and twice so far, I've been told that after review, they aren't hiring anybody and instead are putting the position on hold. Has this been happening to anyone else? It just seems quite strange as I would have thought that such reviews would have done before starting the interview process.

Are they creating panels from the interview process?

I've seen a few jobs readvertised and just presumed there wasn't enough applicants. Maybe no applicant reached the minimum standard?

Or no-one applied!!! If it was Dublin!

    Recession is a coming.

Quite a common tactic in MNCs and the like.
