Unfortunately, I won’t get to race in the Valencia half due to injury. It’s been sold out for a good while, but the entry can be transferred. You would have to pay the full current price, which I think is now €75, but it looks to be a fantastic race. If anyone is interested please send me a DM.

not to hijack the thread, but does anyone know if water is served in bottles or cups on the Valencia half marathon course?

Conditions looking perfect for Sunday, dew point 8°, cloudy and only a hint of a breeze. Please don't change.

It was some day. Did you run, Wottle? I am still on cloud 9 from the experience :-)

I did, a bit of a so so run for me. Wasn't feeling 100% and struggled home in 1:36.

Great event though, apart from the expo, it seemed miles away.

I'm back in a few weeks for the full, looking forward to it.

    How'd you go.

Expo was a silly distance from the city. Heard loads of Spaniards complain about that too.

I had the dream day - stars aligning etc and ran a few seconds under 90. That magic barrier (for me at least :-)).

loved the city - jealous you’ll get another visit so soon!

I'd be interested in taking on the half in Valencia next year instead of DCM.

I had a quick look at flights last night and it didn't look like there was much on offer. Maybe it's too far away.

Did ye find it easy enough to get to?

I've been out there before on holidays and loved the place so wouldn't be too much of a hard sell to get out there again!!

Definitely had to wait awhile before decent flights were released.

This year it was Friday to Monday evening as the only Sunday flight was same time as the race.

I've a friend living in Madrid and he had suggested there as a possible option and then get the high speed train to or from Valencia.

I'm flying into Barcelona Saturday midday and out of Madrid Sunday evening. Alicante is another possibility. Direct would be best, obviously.

Im flying from Dublin to Valencia on the Friday morning, 250 euros, I left it late to enter..Luckily I'm not flying home til the Sunday week from Alicante to Shannon, going to make a holiday out of it..

Did a long run this morning, it was meant to be slow but not that slow ! Oh well, Mother Nature is catching up, mid 50's now..I'm just going over to enjoy the race and beautiful Valencia !!

How is getting to the expo from the main train station like for the half? I see the full is out there also unlike last year

It's a bit of a p.i.t.a. alright, but it's doable. There's a bus (62) and I think the metro too. I'll check in more detail later. That said, you might be getting in to Estacion Sorolla which is a small way from the old 'main' station (Estacion del Norte). If you're travelling with a couple of mates you might be as well jumping into a taxi. Probably about 15 bucks I'd say.

I’ll be staying near xativa station. As I’ll be arriving on Friday I don’t mind 15 minutes walk. Saturday be a different story

I got a taxi out from the center to the expo. It was 12/15 euros, which made more sense to me than buying multiple bus/metro tickets, wasting time, etc.

Considering this half as well for 2024. Thanks for the info. Is it possible for someone else to collect your number or do you have to do it yourself?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,240 ✭✭✭Wottle

I really can't remember, apologies but I'd be surprised if you couldn't, the organisation is top notch. I've attached last year's booklet below, should have the answer in there somewhere.

Apologies, see you're talking about the half, same organisation though, so info could still be in the booklet.
