Pump isolation suggestion?

Hi there, can anyone suggest a way to isolate the inlet to this grundfos shower pump?

Could I disconnect one of these connections and put a temporary stopper there? Or if not maybe I can add an isolation valve somewhere in this setup? 

There's a gate valve further back on the copper pipe but it doesn't stop the flow completely. I wouldn't be confident replacing a gate valve. I'd like to clean/check the strainers on the pump without draining the entire system.

If there is no valve or the existing valve is not working then you're left looking for a hack. You could bend that thinner flex-pipe over itself and put a cable-tie over it for a short period, that should block off the flow.

Consider replacing that thinner flex-pipe with another one with a valve on it:

Very poorly installed pump. All the pipes should be vertical. The warranty was voided by the installation.

As mentioned in the post above you can get flexis with a shut off valve built in. Personally I would fit leaver valves on the copper on the hot & cold inlet side

Thanks for the feedback, it's all valuable as I'm trying to learn as much as I can. Interesting note about the quality as well!

The flex-pipe replacement sounds doable for me. Would I need to redo the compression fitting?

No 1 is a compression fitting, No 2 is a screw-in fittings. You will need to reapply teflon tape on both but it should be a direct swap over as long as you get a matching flex-pipe.
