Is there an Issue with insuring younger people on EV's?

Trying to get insurance for someone 27, full licence 5yrs, 2yrs in own name. No claims. Nobody quoting on a Model 3 or MG 4, both new. Will be going in their own name under company policy.

It's not an EV issue, it's a performance one. Some insurance companies still see any tesla as some sort of race car. Try some brokers. Even the likes of AA should be able to get a quote

i've a renault megane etech, was able to get quotes from a broker with aviva, (and others but aviva was the cheapest) and directly from Allianz for a 19yr old on her provisional licence

In terms of Tesla there is a Tesla Ireland Facebook group and they have created a Tesla insurance quotes document or spread sheet where Irish owners shared their quotes and age etc. To join the group in theory you need to have an order for a Tesla but if asked they may let you join and share the data.

As said it may depend on performance/risk etc. Tesla won't supply repair parts to anyone but themselves and the cars can take months to get fixed etc so from a claim point of view they can be expensive to fix after a crash with little third parties able to repair them. Add in sensors, cameras etc and they get complicated and pricey.
