just wondering if I need to tee off from the bath or can I tap into the storage tank in the attic?

You might get away with tapping into the bath supply but in certain situations it can void the warranty in the same way as putting silicone around the electric shower can void the warranty.

Best practice is a dedicated supply directly from the cold water tank. This is what you should be aiming for.
