Is this a reason to walk away? He said he will contact the owner and ask him for it

The reason I wanted this car is because it has a brand new timing belt and water pump, but this has made me uneasy

How old is the car? Maybe it doesn't have a fully documented service history.

it is 2014. Yeah i was just a bit thrown off because all of my research had said to ask for it and then your man just said he didnt have one!

How do you know it has a brand new timing belt and water pump?

well he claims he is going to do it himself, but you are right, not like i would not what I am looking at

If the dealer does a full engine service and a new timing belt & water pump then its not the end of the world. Some cars are more sensitive to servicing than others

Obviously having some sort of service history is a bonus tho.

I don’t think one big service can make up for 9 possible years of neglect. I assume you’re paying proper money for the car, so a service history should be a must-have

2014 car without any service history even receipts for parts oil/filters ( if last owner was diyer ect) . I be definitely haggling hard over the price or walking away. definitely want it 1000 euro cheaper than a car with history

If the seller contacts a main dealer they might have some service history for it. Its unlikely the car wasn’t serviced, particularly in the first 3 years of its life
