First Time Firearms Application / Advice

    Hi Folks,

This topic has probably been raised many times in the past however I couldn't find any up to date forums (I also havnt used boards in about 10yrs so I'm a little rusty).

I have always been interested in shooting and did some pistol shooting while living abroad. I recently moved to North County Dublin and there multiple gun clubs in the area.

I plan on doing a trial day in a local gun club however all going well I am interested in applying for a firearm's license. I am interested in both target and clay shooting and hopefully the trial day will guide me into what firearm I would be most interested in applying for.

    My question(s) are:

    * How hard is it to get a license these days? (No criminal record, no med history, state job etc)

    * I am really interested in pistol shooting however I heard it's almost impossible to get a pistol license for your first license, is this true?

    * What firearm would you recommend for a first time applicant and what's the most likely to be approved?

    * What are the requirements for first time applicants (storage, home security requirements etc)?

I appreciate any guidance and advice

    Thanks!
