Ad blockers for mobile phones

I have put up with adverts on my phone for a good few years as I feel it adding ad blockers adds a layer of complexity to the system.

But recently I am getting the impression that the ads are getting more aggressive and making it hard for me to scroll down the page with being taken to some godawful site that may even resist a simple "go back" click.

What do people here think ?

Are there real disadvantages to ad blockers?

Of course there are sites where you have to allow ads if you want to browse there(BBC,RTE etc) but are there enough downsides to putting on an ad blocker that would make you decide against doing it?

It is not so much the odd advert that bothers me.It is the way they seem to take control of the browser and waste your time trying to get out of the diversion they have led you into.

Install kiwi browser from play store. It allows you to install extensions.

Install browser then search for ublock origin chrome extension in Google and click install extension.

Thanks for the suggestions (and being late answering -I blame this creaky site for no notifications) but what I am asking for is whether there are any downsides to that course of action?

If using an Android phone, I can very much recommend AdGuard

    Try DuckDuckGo Private Browser.

You don't even need to use the browser for the ad/tracking protection to work as it blocks ads even in any app including e-mail you use if you enable "App Tracking Protection" and "email protection" plus it allows you to whitelist apps/sites that you want to support.

There are no downsides, but some sites have started restricting access when they detect an ad-blocker, but you can always white-list them.
