Wiper Stalk

Hi all. I failed my NCT on the front washer not working. My usual mechanic has moved so I just went to a crowd near work. They took 5 minutes to say I need a new wiper stalk. Fair enough makes sense. Fuse is fine and rear washer works so switch is probably not firing. I thought perhaps they might have offered to open it up to see if it was a simple fix but anyway with time running out I'm just going to order a new stalk. Thing is I'm not sure how to be certain you are ordering the right part. I have a 171 Ford Fiesta and from looking online this looks like the right one but I'm just wondering how to be sure or if I can be sure other than ringing a Ford dealer here in Ireland.

Why not see if you can source one cheaper from a crashed car at a scrap yard?

My first step there would be to squirt WD-40 into the switch, I've revived lots of electricals with it. Personally I'd remove it first to do that, get a good dose of WD-40 into it and leave it to absorb for a while, and you can also inspect/spray the 10-pin connector at the same time.

As above, if replacement is necessary, scrapyards would be a lot cheaper than €85.

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.
