Septic tank issues

    Hi all,

im wondering can I legally disconnect my neighbors septic tank that’s in my front garden. A couple have bought a property next door to me and their septic tank and percolation area is in my front garden, there is no easement in place nor is the septic tank registered. They bought it cash so didn’t need our permission for a right of way and the site they bought is over 1 acre so there’s plenty of room to move it onto their property. They are saying it’s tough luck for us and won’t move it and I really don’t want issues nor my property to be contaminated given it’s nearly 50 years old and hasn’t really been used in the last 20 years only as a summer home. Thanks in advance for any help.

its been there since the 60s. The site was originally 2 acres my parents gave me my site and we built our house and their septic tank was on our folio and they used it with no issues but once they passed on it was in my family and not used in 20ish years and now the house has been sold we are in this predicament

Something doesnt add up here. Just a few weeks ago you were in the process of buying a house where the neigbours had a septic tank in the garden. Now you say you have built a house and the neighbours septic tank is there also. Care to explain?
