flickering issue

hi, im having an issue with my pc i built, intermittently, the screen will keep going blank, it lasts about 2 seconds and comes back on, i might get through most the day without it happening then it suddenly starts doing this once every 30 seconds - 4 mins. im thinking maybe a faulty power supply or motherboard? any help is appreciated

Is it just dropping the feed to the monitor, or is the computer itself restarting? When the image comes back, is it exactly where you were before? I'd suspect a flaky cable as the first thing. A lot of HDMI and DisplayPort cables are flaky and often don't meet the standards.

cheers for the reply, i did change the cable and nothing changes im afraid, its like it looses connection for a few seconds and just resumes where it left off kinda thing

I'd be leaning towards a graphics card issue. Does the PC have on board graphics? If it does, use this to see if the problem persists. Do you have another monitor you could try? Try to eliminate different possibilities one by one.

Then it's not the motherboard or PSU. Those would freeze or restart the PC normally. Do you have another monitor you can try? Is the monitor getting hot when this happens?

What components are in? What spec is the PSU? Usually power drops cause blue screen of death or reboots though.

could be the monitor as well
