Can anyone recommend any app/website that is FREE, to remove the backgrounds from pics?

Adobe has a free one that works very well:

You need to have an account to download the resulting background-removed image, or to tweak the background removal, but it's totally free. Or you can just drag the result to your desktop, and you'll get a PNG with a transparent background, and you don't even need to have an account to do that.

Example, with a relatively difficult image (no tweaking on this, just dragged and dropped):

Your Samsung phone does this as well.Just open gallery and press on the item you want to keep.Its not as good as Photoshop,but kind of handy in a pinch.

ive tried the background remover.

Its free for a 'limited time' ?

And it still has a coloured box around the pic?

It removes the green grass that was the background , but it replaces it with whatever colour/fill/diff background you want.

I need to do what you did in your example ie. take the subject out, and be able to place just that subject (without any fill/colour behind them) and be able to place them in another setting/pic etc...

What am i missing? 😏 🤔

I think you're looking for pro-features from free software. That left-over trim is where the green from the grass bled into the surrounding pixels on the camera. The only way to remove that would be to modify the unwanted green to match the required shades. The Gimp (photo editor) will do it, but it's complex.

No, that's the transparency info. It's probably lost when the image is uploaded to boards.ie and re-encoded, so you would need the original file from @Kav_Piero.
