Hi, you'll need to tell us more about the splitter as you can't nominally swap over a 16a plug for a 13a one as it would be a safety risk. Usually where 16a is specified its done so for a reason.

Tell us the make and model as well as the info on the rating plate if you can.

    Thanks 10-10-20!

I'm a bit clueless on these things so really appreciate your help.

This is the machine I have in mind.

Jebbtools Hydraulic Log Splitter Specialists. Prices start from €279 — Mallow Tools

I don't know much more about the spec than what's shown!

    Hi Op

The log splitter you have linked is 3000w. Ohms law calc. Current = Power/Voltage if you take the supply voltage to be 230 then 3000/230= 13.04 Amps.

So this would be above the 13 A rated plug. Hope this makes sense.

    Thanks samcr440!

I get the maths......I guess my question is would the convertor things linked in my first post work? If not, when would they work/what is their purpose?

I'm not trying to be awkward......just clueless about this stuff and trying to understand. Cheers.

    They're a "gadget "

There's all sorts of adapters out there doesn't mean you should use them

OP. Adapter that you have linked will work for the log splitter but will probably be overloaded and may blow the 13A fuse in the plug top. Ill give you an example of were a use an adapter similar that you have linked. I have a generator that only has a 16 A output on it. I want to use say a drill that is rated to use a 13A plug. I then use the adapter to connect my drill to the generator

OP is it possible for you to install the appropriate 16amp socket rather than attempting to use these adapters?

It seems that this is the way to go. What's involved - what sort of shekels are we talking about?

250 spondoolicks or there abouts, depends on the locality of a suitable circuit.
