driveway patio drainage - what to do

    Hi Folks

    My driveway slopes at around 12% towards the house. There is a car bay and garden. There is an old drainage channel that is around 2feet from the front door and only covers 1/5th of the width of the font area in the middle. The outlet for this is via a pipe that is under a small patio area and goes out into a downpipe drain. It's not connected just points into the ground pipe.

    I want to re do this so the drainage channel crosses the full width (I'm putting down a new patio area too). Can I connect this to the same pipe the downpipe flows into (is that even allowed?).. or should I be looking at an attentuation drainage system into the garden? The former seems easier..

    I'm assuming there is potential for a lot of surface water area in this patio area but in it's current state it's totally knackered with most jointing gone.. so the water is just filtering down through that..
