driveway patio drainage - what to do

    Hi Folks

My driveway slopes at around 12% towards the house. There is a car bay and garden. There is an old drainage channel that is around 2feet from the front door and only covers 1/5th of the width of the font area in the middle. The outlet for this is via a pipe that is under a small patio area and goes out into a downpipe drain. It's not connected just points into the ground pipe.

I want to re do this so the drainage channel crosses the full width (I'm putting down a new patio area too). Can I connect this to the same pipe the downpipe flows into (is that even allowed?).. or should I be looking at an attentuation drainage system into the garden? The former seems easier..

I'm assuming there is potential for a lot of surface water area in this patio area but in it's current state it's totally knackered with most jointing gone.. so the water is just filtering down through that..

    Thanks!
