Sky - Will they move my ONT if I ask?

Doing some renovations and would like to move the internal ONT box back to closer to where it comes in from outside as it now comes in and routes around a room skirting board and through a wall to the hallway.

I'm in contract with sky. Has anyone ever asked them to relocate it for them and if so they they do it and charge for it?

I could almost do it myself as I believe it's just a matter of buying a shorter fibre cable to run from the outside box to the one inside but I would prefer if the professionals done it as they would do a neat job.

Failing that I may ask an electrician to relocate it.

To answer my own question I called them and they will only send someone out to relocate it if the wall is getting demolished or on health and safety grounds.

I was only thinking after the call I could have said the wall was coming down. How would they know if I was going to knock it down after or not but I'm too honest!

Just tell them there is a change of plan and your builder says the wall has to come down due to safety concerns afterall.

Looking for anyone who has done this. Do they look for proof? I can't imagine the engineer sent out would care.

My fibre comes in via a manhole, could you unclip the cable and pull the cable back to the man hole and coil it up carefully

I assume Sky's product is provided by eir and eir uses a contractor so someone would have to pay for the job to be carried out.

Don't ever unclip fibre. Needs special cleaning equipment before you can 'clip' it back in.

Cable could be hidden by conduit or coving. Network cable could be moved so it's just the ONT there.
