Hi, I started a CE Scheme last month. I have been with LAES since February.

I got a call from LAES saying I still have to attend meetings even though I told them I'm working now.

I'm just wondering if I really have to, as I'm not on jobseekers anymore.

    Any advice appreciated.

You do not have to attend those meetings, you are now essentially an employee of the CE scheme, have your employer (sponsor) or supervisor email the Intero centre you deal with.

Alternatively email whomever in the LAES you were dealing with stating you are now on a CE scheme & are not obligated to attend any such meetings and they should speak to DSP if they need further clarification.

Thanks for your reply. He said as CE Scheme is only part time, I still have to attend.

Just one last question, what benefit would it be to them to keep me attending these meetings?

He's talking through his Arse. CE Schemes are 19.5 per week and contractually, employment.

I'm going to assume it's either Seetac or Turas Nua 🤔 the only Benefit is to them in terms of fees whilst your referred to them. Absolute chancers.

Follow the advise I've given, your not even classified as unemployed once you've signed up for a CE Scheme.

I think it's Seetac, from what I can gather from a Google search.

    Thanks again Dempo1.

Yep, if you search Seetac, Turas Nua or Jobs path on Boards you'll get to understand what I mean by chancers 😉

I started a CE scheme back in June and was with the LEAS since Nov 22, now I had to cancel two meetings with the LEAS as they clashed with things I was doing with the CE scheme. I told my CE supervisor about a meeting in July and was told it was considered training so I could go as I had been with the LEAS first. Two other people on the CE scheme are also with LEAS. At the meeting He asked how I was getting on and I passed my updated CV to Him which he scanned into his Computer.

This is utterly Bizzare. Training of any sort or courses etc are arranged by a supervisor of a CE scheme on behalf of participants on that CE scheme , they get direct funding for courses & training directly from DSP.

The LEAS is an entirely different and seperate entity from a CE scheme, a participant is on one or the other, never both.

There is absolutely no obligation whatsoever to be on both. You are an employee of the CE scheme, period & need to discuss why on earth you are still engaged with Leas with DSP, your CE Supervisor & or DSP

While I can see where you are coming from but my supervisor said since I was with LEAS first I still have to attend meetings till the year with them is up which will be in Nov 23. Now if it was just me I would be asking questions but I far as I know from talking to others, Two that are on the CE scheme are also with the LEAS.

Also since I started with LEAS in Nov 22 I only have attended a meeting once a month even though I live less the 5km from the office.

Remember Seetac Now LEAS always pushed or encouraged for the people referred to them to get a full time Job not Part time job or a course.

Worth reading the official information that says yes you do need to continue to attend appointments.

So just for clarity. It appears OP was actually with LEAS prior to starting a CE scheme. I misunderstood. I can see how in this circumstance they may be required to continue to engage . My point was that a person on a CE scheme is removed from Job activation programs so there is an immediate contradiction.

As those on CE schemes know, their jobseekers payment ceases once they start the CE scheme, they are in essence no longer unemployed & are now employee's of the CE scheme.

The Junior ministers answer is contradictory & makes no sense. Also as an employee of a CE scheme, DSP cannot sanction anyone for no longer engaging with an utterly pointless LEAS scheme. They and Turas NUA may not be pleased but that's about all they can be. Also worth pointing out those over 55 could potentially be on a CE scheme for 3 years & those 60 or over, until they reach retirement age.
