    Hi,

I am a new parent and looking to swap my 2014 Mercedes B180 with a safe, easy to maintain car for myself (~10k, maybe 1-2K more depending on the car).I only do around 20-25K KMs a year, driving from the suburbs into the City for work (N4), with the occasional weekend trip. While I love my current car and the space and comfort it has to offer, I have been stung a couple of times with failing parts that were expensive to replace (ex - A seat sensor that cost 800 Euros + labor) and the service cost in general (ex - most recent Type B service cost 480 euros at mulligansgarage). I don't really have a preference about body type, so my next car could be anything from a saloon to MPV, SUV. My criteria is the following (in order of preference) :

    1. Safety - As a first time parent, i am paranoid about this at the moment.

    2. Cheap to run - Low service and maintenance cost, i definitely have better use for the money.

    3. Space - Plenty of room at the back (preferably more than b180) for child seat etc. I am not from Ireland and have to do frequent airport runs for visiting family, current car fits two check in bags easy, so would want something with at least similar or more boot space.

    4. Creature comforts - Not a must but I will prefer something in high trim, comfortable seats, sensors and i don't want to worry about installing a reverse camera etc.

    5. Returns - I will most likely only be in Ireland for another 3 years so, would like to get at least some of my money back when i leave.

I like cars but i don't know a lot about them, my motive is to get a safe and comfortable family car (even if its boring to drive). I have heard Japanese brands - Toyota, Honda etc. are reliable and easy to maintain but i am not really a fan of their interiors however, I will get one, if its the most suitable for the purpose. Apologies, if my post is too vague or specific but I would really appreciate any advice and guidance in my search for a car, thank you !

PS : I will also appreciate any recommendations for car dealers, i could sell my current car to (unless its better to do this on my own using done deal etc.) and buy next one from. I have been searching on Donedeal, CarsIreland etc. but haven't come across anything for that price yet.
