DPC detail over RSJs / I-beams

    Hi hoping someone could help regarding the cavity tray over RSJs for our garage door, haven't seen it done before. There's two RSJs (one on each leaf).

    Wondering is the DPC generally placed on top of the outer RSJ? (See pic attached). Thanks for any help.

    Yes, that it roughly how it works. But typically in that case DPC aligns to a waterproofing layer. On a flat roof or similar.

    The detail is incomplete though. what happens around the beams, where is the door. You are showing a block wall below the beam, which there wouldn't be one there as it's an opening. Draw it all and you'll probably end up with a funny exposed RSL.

    Personally I'd be trying to do it with a single beam/lintel hybrid.

    RSJ WITH WIDE FLANGE WELDED ON


    PROPRIETARY LINTEL

    either one of the above lintels would be a better solution, once approved by your engineer
