It wasn't so long ago how some Irish people faced trumped up charges in the UK and have had to suffer imprisonment because of it. I know this isn't exclusive to Irish people and it has happened do other nationalities also.

It's a theme that doesn't seem to be touched upon in the TV show 'Banged Up Abroad' and I was wondering what your opinion is on the matter?

Say if you were facing trumped up charges in Vietnam would you stay and fight them or flee? And similarly, if you were facing trumped up charges in the UK would you stay and fight them or 'escape to freedom'?

Vietnam; if I thought i could make it, and if i thought there was corruption against me, Id be out if there like shyte off a shovel.

In fact if you detected any sort of corruption directed against you then you may as well make a break for it in any case, since your conviction is probably pre-determined, so nothing to lose by running.

UK; Your odds of a fair trial are probably quite high, and running would look bad for your defense. Youll maybe be able to appeal, and the odds of conspirators getting caught are quite high, so they either wont be so eager to try, and/or may change their mind during trial.

That’s the nub of it really - I’d sooner have an Irish passport in those circumstances, than a British passport, and having one with Charlie’s head on it? Might as well admit guilt now and get it over with 😂
