Dashcam draw from battery?

I have a 2012 535i F11, recent purchase. 70mai dashcam was hardwire installed with parking feature, worked flawlessly for 2 weeks. We were away for 3 weeks and when we got home I had this displayed on the dash after starting the car.

Dashcam would not power on. Tested the dashcam in the house and works fine. tested it in the car with the USB plugged into 12v socket with adapter - works fine. No further displays of this nature on the iDrive. Have driven the car for a few hours since and dashcam still won't turn on. Could it be that the battery is telling the system - sorry not enough voltage for your dashcam buddy and isn't supplying power???? I'm pretty sure the seller said it was the original battery which would make it 11 yrs old, could be on the way out, I'll test it tomorrow.

Try moving the hardwire connection to a different fuse, look for a constant-on fuse and see if that works.

Also if your battery is 11 years old get a new one. Check the date code on it to confirm.

Nothing to do with the dashcam. Common problem on bmw BMS. Had this issue on the E60 and F10. Seems to have been sorted for the G30.

Cars left at airports for a fortnight also had issues with batteries going flat and had alarm switched on , so not surprised at all.

11 yr old battery Wow had a good life indeed.

Might it be the system needs a rescan and a reset to get it working again as the unit works elsewhere.

And if you do have to replace the battery then remember that the new battery will have to be coded/registered to the car. If it's not coded to the car then the BMS won't manage it correctly which just shortens it's life.
