e-bikes for the big lads

I am looking to get a ebike. However, I am a good bit over the recommended max weight for all of them. I was talking to a lad in the shop the other week and he said that he "isn't sure there would be a problem, you'd most likely be fine".

Does anyone have any thoughts? I know the motor and battery life would be hit but I am more concerned the frame snapping in two while I'm doing 30km/h downhill!!!
