Refund on cancelled flight booking

I cancelled an Ethiad booking, but Ethiad say they will not refund as the booking was confirmed even though it was cancelled within 24hrs as stated on their information.

Do you mean it was cancelled within 24 hours of having been booked, or it was cancelled within 24 hours of the scheduled flying time?
What was the ticket class? Terms and conditions applying to the cancellation of tickets vary widely but, generally, the less you have paid for the ticket the more brutal the terms for changing or cancelling it.
