Dripping shower unit

    This shower unit is dripping. How do I go about replacing the washers and is there anything additional to consider with these units?

    I'd be replacing the spindle rather than the washers. I haven't seen washers being replaced in decades

    The dial on the right is the temperature cartridge. The dial on the right is the spindle. The chrome cap is held in place with a screw. Once this is removed you can get at the spindle. You will need a spanner or shifter to remove the spindle. Sourcing the correct parts is usually harder & more time consuming than replacing the part

    I presume I can't remove the spindle without turning off water supply.

    Are these a standard unit that I can purchase or do I need to remove first to confirm?

    I wouldn't have a problem swapping spindles live but if you don't know what one to buy then turning off the water is a must.

    The beauty of the bar mixer is that any bar mixer will fit in it's place. If you can't source the spindle then a cheap bar mixer is easy to replace
