    Hi there,

I am trying to get my mind around an Ajax security system. It's website isn't the most intuitive regarding how the system works, it explains how the components work very well but not the set up, are you paying for monthly cloud subscription for storage even in a self set up? Any resources would be great.

Also is buying second hand Ajax components a bad idea? The wireless components have only a limited lifespan in terms of battery?

    Thanks!

You’re not paying anything monthly to Ajax.

If you set it up yourself you will need to pay something every so often if you choose to use a SIM card. if you choose only to use Wi-Fi for example and you already have that there is zero additional cost.

To your point above, there is no “storage” - just the system and the app. The system talks to the Ajax server and then to your app, no fee for this.

In theory there should be no issue buying second hand components - vast majority if not all the batteries are user replaceable with watch/camera batteries. Having said this, you should check prices available from Megateh for example, you might find it’s not much more if you bought new stuff during a sale for example. Your mileage may vary.
