The wife's run around 2011 Renault Megane all of a sudden is showing a spanner with Service Required ,

The question i have is how long could she drive it without getting said service,

Is she safe to drive for another month or would it be something that needs to be done straight away ,

All depends on the mileage she is doing. I wouldn't let any car go over 1,000kms of it's service interval.

Regular oil changes are key to the life of every engine. Diesels especially. Safety wise who knows, as getting

a car serviced includes (or should include) a safety inspection of brakes, steering suspension, tyres etc.

I worked in a dealer years ago and advised a guy he needed 4 tyres asap as they down to the wire. He told

me he would get them done next month as it was "only the wife's car" Maybe he had a huge life insurance

    policy on her. :-)

How long ago was it last serviced? The spanner light on Renault's often means there is a fault, not that the car is looking for a service as such

Serviced just over a year ago ,

It's an orange spanner & says service required ,

I'll take her for a service next week & have the garage look at it better safe than sorry ,

Ok so its possible it is the service reminder. The orange spanner and service required message also pops up when there is a fault so best to have it checked (its due a service anyway)
