Hotels have max permitted rates for rooms - you can see them on a sign inside the room door usually.

What probably really happened was that the hotel was full except for a top suite so that came back as the 'best available' room rate.

I once looked city centre hotels for All Ireland final day and the only room available was €3500 in the Shelbourne.

That room is probably always that price but cheaper ones would be available on less busy days

It was the Iveagh hotel on Harcourt St.

I suspect they’ve taken down that rate since they were named.

a few years ago paid 300 for a sat night in a hotel that any other time was around 60 quid. Kyle was playing and ireland sa rugby (which I had tickets for)

basically when taylor swift dates were announced every hotel room in dublin was booked and people who don't get tickets will cancel.

    so supply and demand.

and next time you're in a hotel look at the rack rate on the back of the door .
