Getting Zappi, Harvi and Eddi to talk to each other.

My daughter has just had a Zappi 2 (with WiFi) installed. A couple of months earlier she had both an Eddi and and Harvi installed, however although clamps were installed neither of the devices were fully commissioned. This was to wait until the installation of the Zappi.

Summer holidays were to intervene on getting the whole lot set up and commissioned though, as the main electrician just didn't get back to do final setting before he headed off for three weeks holiday.

I am wondering if someone could give me a pointer on getting all the devices talking to each other. She has the MiEnergi app and an account setup. I think the Zappi is showing up on the app, but nothing else is.

She needs to go into linked devices settings in the Zappi, and pair the other devices

It's in the manual here under Page 31

Do one device at a time. On the Harvi you press the Pair button and the light should flash blue IIRC, then pair a new device on the Zappi and it should pick up the Harvi

The Eddi has the same menu structure as the Zappi for linking devices so you just select pair new device on both and it should work

It can take a few goes at times, particularly if there's something like a WiFi adapter in the vicinity

It's also possible you might have to change the channel on all the devices, but I wouldn't try that unless you're having a lot of issues pairing

Thank you for all that info. I've passed it on and she is going to work on it this evening. 👍️

I would not have a go yourself. It's fiddly and complicated and you need to check everything is working together and happy.

The eddi and garvi may need settings entered. I do t know if the house has an instant shower or a heat pump or if the zappi has it's own wired current clamp but playing around in maximum load settings could mean you overload the fuse board and trip a fuse or blow the main esb fuse.

Ideally you need to know how everything is wired, what current sensor is connected to what such as incoming esb supply, solar generation, home battery etc. You need to also decide when you want hot water and will hot water have higher priority than charging the car. If things are set up right typically you will heat hot tank from.sar first, then when tank full of hot water car will charge. This depends on how big your panel set up is and the time of year. You may also want to hear hot tank from expensive day electricity or cheap night rate depending on tariffs to make sure you have hot water at say 7am each morning. It's quite complicated and I would say get electrician to do the initial set up and get to know how to set up hot water, then try get car to charge a bit from solar.

It's never going to be fully automatic as it depends on usage but for maximum savings you need to try heat most water from.the sun.

Thank you. The electrician still has two weeks to go on his holidays, but the Zappi will charge the car, so not really a major problem. It was just a thought.
