    Hi

Any professional motorists here? I have VW Polo 1.2 9N 2004. I bought replacement part EGR valve using reg number. In the end my mechanic said my car have no EGR, and like local VW over the phone confirmed this car have no EGR. Anyone can confirm that my car does not have this valve? Or if I should have one please help to locate it.

The part I got - NGK (NTK) EGE5-D028

Google showing tons of websites trying to sell me more egr valves, but no one wants to show me where to put it

    Big thanks

Put it in the glove box if it fits.

2 professionals said it doesn't have EGR. Who told you it needed one?

2 professionals and one rude boy

this is exactly the kind of aggressive attitude I always expect on the boards 🤣

NGK parts catalog said so (click on link below), there is listed all polo 1.2 engines of 2004. And they guarantee fitting. How often do you give a guarantees on not existing things?

But why did you go out and buy an EGR tho? Surely someone told you that you needed one? Or did you self diagnose an issue with your car?

You hardly went out and bought one just because you seen it in a catalogue

Yes I diagnosed it myself, I mean google helping with that, that only high idle emissions failure may be caused by clogged EGR valve and this is a common problem for old 1.2 polos with existing egr. There might be tons of different issues, I tried to start with this part. Catalog showed that my car having it, online store who sold it to me used my reg number plate to guarantee fitting, so I bought it and want it to be replaced. Two professionals answers is below, online store is not responding. Also store having good reviews here on boards.ie.

With today's market cars prices, I still see the point to try to reincarnate my oldie.

Rud e or not, you can't fit it if it doesn't have it. You've taken the word of a catalogue & google over a main dealer & a professional mechanic.

Return the part & your Halfords spanner while you're at it :)

EGR is probably the last thing to look at with high emissions.

Online parts catalogues definitely dont guarantee fitting of parts, it always requires manual cross referencing to ensure any parts are correct

Lol, thats why you go to a mechanic😂

Those old Polos usually need a catalytic converter or a new engine to get them through emissions

This is what my first question was - does anyone have access to VW manuals to locate it or confirm it's not existence.

Instead, the guys are trying to throw rotten eggs at me and assert themselves at the expense of my old car. Some local entertainment, why not

Ask the guy who sold it to you, where exactly it goes.

The problem is some models did and some didn't, the same exact engine was sold both with and without an egr valve
