As above, in credit to the tune of 500 euro with energia due to the govt subsidies and my last bill being a 250 euro credit adjustment in my favour after a meter read.

Anyway, I'm out of contract in a few weeks and will be going with whoever gives me best deal, will my credits transfer over? Or will energia make a payment to me?

If not I'd be as well off waiting.

Can't say for sure, but I'd expect that trying to have credits transferred from one provider to another would be a whole world of trouble, and maybe impossible.

My suggestion would be that you simply stay with Energia until your €500 credit is used up, and then switch. Unless there's a drastic change from how things have operated for a good few years now, all the other providers will still have switching deals then anyway.

FWIW, am in much the same boat myself - just out of contract with my own provider, but still have a little over €120 credit with them. So am just going to wait another month until that credit is used up before switching to get a deal from somewhere else.

Former provider refunds the credit to your bank account/issues cheque. It's in their t&c's

Have switched companies when we had a credit, it just gets refunded to the account they normally debit.
