Continuing paying my AVC while going through a divorce: foolish?

Is this an obtuse thing to continue doing? I've struggled to pay into my AVC over the years in order to get the tax benefits but now with the struggle intensified due to having to pay hefty legal fees, is it madness to continue to pay into an AVC?

why not pause the contributions and restart them when financial situation improves. AVC's are designed to be flexible. Stop, start increase decrease.... as suits your needs.
