Problem with smooth accelerator pedal.

The accelerator pedal on my wifes old ford is plastic and quite slippy. Is there any reason I can't stick a strip of anti slip tape, the sort they use on stair treads to put some grip on it. I've never seen it done so just wondered if there was some reason not to do it.

    Clean it with detergent.

I did clean it except with a degreaser ready to accept adhesive. I bought a role of Anti Slip Tape locally (cheaper than Amazon) and cut a piece to fit the pedal. The adhesive seems really good and just in case cut a couple of spares and left them in the dash. My wife reports that her foot stays on the pedal better.

Just an update as I always like threads that have a logical conclusion. The Anti Slip Tape above worked perfectly. My wife did a 200mile run in the UK twice last week and had a lot less problem with her foot slipping off the pedal.
