Are new phones on prepay locked to network?

Are iPhones bought from a network carrier (Three/Vodafone - Ireland) on prepay be locked to that network?

Three yes, vodafone no (in-store stock anyway, not sure about online phone purchases)

I believe so. I bought about 4-5 iPhones there from December in retail stores across the country and all of them came unlocked.

Usually the likes of PC world and others have them unlocked. Did you happen buy any from Three or Vodafone recently?

When I meant I bought 4-5 iPhones I was talking about Vodafone. I bought them in Vodafone stores and they all came unlocked.
