Online order messed up - postage costs

Hi

Anyone know what the position is here as regards paying for return postage: I ordered a personalised blanket online as a present and it came with an error in the message, the vendor has accepted responsibility and will correct the error but who is responsible for paying for return postage?

First thing to do is to check their terms and conditions.

If it was their error I would expect them to cover the return postage.

You shouldn't be out of pocket for their mistake.

This. They do something wrong, they have to pay. You change your mind, you have to pay.

Just to close out on this, the vendor did end up paying for the return postage (she was a bit snarky about it though)

I'm still not 100% clear whether the seller is obliged to refund the cost of returns though - hard to anything explicit online about this situation. This link says "You may have to pay for the cost of returning the item to the trader, but if it is proven that there is a fault and that this fault was not caused by you, then the trader should reimburse this return shipping cost." So it's a "should" rather than "must" by the looks of it

There's no obligation for a business to provide change, they all do. If a company doesn't pay for faulty/damaged stock to be returned then people will use the companies that do.
