For the first time (and in the past hour) the number of Automatic cars has exceeded the number of Manual transmission cars for sale on www.carzone.ie

45% of the automatics on Carzone are 201 reg or newer.

But yeah, the likes of Toyota have standard automatic on every car bar the Aygo and Yaris now, they’re at 93% automatic.

New car sales so far this year are 57% auto

Tbh I think it's an important milestone to celebrate as its another clear indicator of Ireland casting off the yoke of our embarrassing past and taking our place with those modern progressive states that we have long drooled over. Can we do it...yes we can🤣

This is just the inevitable transition as there's no such thing as Manual Hybrids/EVs/PHEVs (with the exception of 'classic/vintage' vehicle conversions).

The only reason manual still exists as a new car option is because it's cheaper to manufacture and hence sell on ICE only powered vehicles.

If the plan to ban selling new petrol and diesel cars ever goes ahead, then new manuals will go with them.

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.
