Hi everyone, I'm 20M, 1 year no claims.

I'm currently driving a 2006 Saab 93 and really want something older as my daily.

I'm looking at Volvo 240 1989ish. Is it possible to get insured or how do I go about it?

    Thanks.

Axa cover older stuff under a normal non classic policy, had a 1991 with them last year.

Not sure how your age would effect it tbh. Better ring and ask.

Most places will look for a.minimag age of 25 for the driver and another car policy in your own name to insure as classic. To get it as a normal daily driver non-classic, I'd be very surprised if you can get insurance unfortunately.

It's essentially impossible to get insured on a classic policy here without an active policy for another car that's used as a daily driver.

As the OP is not talking about Classic Insurance here (looking for a "Daily Driver"), I would recommend calling a broker and see what they can do for you in this regard. Otherwise, get on the phone and call every insurance company you can find for a quote. If you look in the Insurance forum, you will find a list of companies under a sticky.

Great choice of car though BTW @billybull999 . My father in law had 2 of them from the 80s into the early 90s and swore by the Volvo 240. Ditto the Saab... I have a feeling your car tastes are on the quirky side for a 20 year old 😀

Unlikely to get insurance as you have very little experience and insurance companies will see an inexperienced driver with a car that has little value as far too much of a risk.

Thanks for the help lad, my first car at 18 was a nice blue Volvo estate haha. I think my taste is a bit out of whack.

I'll try a broker, thanks again
