    I would not have phoned them, you need to have sent an e-mail or a letter. Any clown in a call centre can take a phone call and give incorrect information. There could be trouble if there is a claim and they discover that you only have a licence for one year.

    I don't understand what you mean by: 'They then sent me my undated policy'. What is an undated policy?

    There used to be an ambiguity about the meaning of 'licence' and whether it covered the period before you passed the test (when you had a provisional licence) but that is no longer the case. You now only have a 'licence' after you pass the test because what you have up to that point is a learner permit.
