So, we're looking at either

A, removal of all duck species, plus grouse, snipe, and golden plover

Or, B, removal of six duck species, plus grouse

What a mess - a government that has done FA practical on the biodiversity front in terms of the operations of destructive state and semi state agencies like OPW, Forestry Service, Coillte, BNM etc. plus shelves the badly needed reforms of NPWS itself, comes out with this nonsense and no clear communication with concerned parties🤬

Better start blizzarding Noonan then with emails and letters.Point out that those two groups that did the survey are hardly unbiased to an agenda as well.

I always thought that Minister Noonan would "go for broke" this August/September in terms of the Open Seasons Order (OSO).

He had 2 attempts previously and this could be his last chance before an election. He needs to appease his followers and as a self proclaimed animal rights activist etc he is diametrically opposed to what we do. The NPWS document in relation to the OSO obtained under FOI, dated September 2022.

As you can see plans are well underway to amend the OSO by means of an S.I.

NARGC Reps have been in contact with Minister Noonans office on a number of occasions since September and there has been no mention of this proposed fundamental change to our sport.

Even more outrageous is the fact the Mr Noonan attended a Seminar hosted by the NARGC on the 10th February in the Aisling Hotel on the very topic of the Open Seasons Order and not a mention! Would that not have been a good time to mention what he had planned?

It was expressly explained at the seminar that OSO changes are underpinned by European legislation and data.

I have contacted 3 TDs already. Another example of the Greens thinking that they can do what they want!

People really need to be down hard on their local politicans, otherwise, we'll have lost half of our sport, before the next general election comes along.
