    What are people's examples of interesting dwellings or structures that are of historic interest? This might range from the thatched cottages to the Great houses to even (shudder) the Spire.

    This thread is prompted by reading of "On the Edge: Ireland’s off-shore islands" by Diarmaid Ferriter in which he recounts some of the earliest stone buildings on the islands, hewed  from the rock by the Monks.
