Thoughts on fault codes

    Hey, I haven't driven my car in a while so battery needed to be replaced which I did but now engine won't turn over. really only drive the car for 20 minutes or so a week so don't want to spend a fortune on it. I've attached fault codes to this thread, anyone have any opinions on cost to get these items rectified. its an 08 seat leon 1.4tsi. 177K on the clock. not driven for around a year or so.

    They look like low voltage codes. I would have said replace the battery which youve done and then clear the faults.

    Other than that did you try jump it? Did you jump it the right way around? Could be a main fuse blown if you did cross the jump pack.

    Should I clear all DTC codes after the autoscan is complete??? The engine ones were the ones I was concerned with. Would it be the fuel filter??? It hasn't been changed in years.

    Also tried to jump it numerous times and nothing. the fuel pressure regulator valve could be gone potentially. thats what the report says. if I clear all faults, try starting it again will the faults reappear of they are legitimate?

    P2293 is low fuel pressure - its a fairly generic code to be honest and not necessarily the regulator failing. Could be caused by the low battery and fuel pump in the tank not getting enough voltage.

    Everything on that report is showing low voltage codes.

    Clear them and see how you get on - if no luck start diagnosing.

    Hey so did more digging on this and a 15 amp fuse is blown, this is for the fuel pump relay. would a new battery cause this? the battery I purchased was slightly bigger than the old one. I took the fuse out and put a new one in and immediately it blew again... Or potentially the fuel pump relay might need to be changed out?

    So it was a fuse. Everything on your report was leading to low voltage codes and low fuel pressure ie the fuel pump fuse blown means there is no fuel pressure as its not being pumped up to the engine.

    New battery wont cause it - it will only draw what it needs.

    It could be the tank unit pump gone especially if it was lying up for a while. Or it could be stuck so to speak - Ive seen it happen before when a car is lying up for a long time which will cause the fuse to blow.

    What I would do first is put a larger fuse in it say a 20 amp and see if you can get it to start. If it does then change the fuse back to a 15 amp and try again. If that doesnt work you could be into a tank unit. But what you could do to confirm is to give it a permanent live to test. Run a 12v double core cable down to the tank unit - you can usually access it under the rear seat. Take off the block connector and put your live and earth from the battery straight onto the connections for the tank unit. You should hear the motor running and then try start it. If it starts its probably not the tank unit. If you dont hear the pump running it probably is.

    If the pump is running and still not starting it could be the relay causing the fuse to blow. In the fuse box the relay for the fuel pump should be a small rectangular one with 4 pins - 2 different sizes. The exact same relay is used for the wipers I think - you could swap them over and see if your fuse blows then.

    will give it a try. Will put a slightly higher fuse in then ill try the relay part, might be easiest to try 1st.

    So 20amp fuse blew, fuel pump is checked as per your guidance, just struggling to understand what relay is for the fuel pump. I've 2 x 449s, 2 x 395s, 2x 373s and 2 x 460s. Any idea which one is the fuel pump relay... Local mechanic can't look at it for 2.5 weeks so really stuck.
