Touching up/painting gold on a headstone

I want to redo the paint on a headstone that's wearing away. Done over 20 years ago now.

What's the best way to redo the gold. What type gold paint should be used and should it be brushed or the rub on gold from a sheet.

Any advice appreciated

An alternative to DIY - the stone masons that work in the cemetery would likely be able to make quick work of it. As they will be there often enough, they can just add it on to another job, no need for a special call out.

You can get fake gold.leaf really cheap from Amazon

Or easiest and hardwaring. Get some.gold hammerite from woodies and a small paintbrush

Yea had been looking on amazon there at gold paint. Was thinking of trying some but like the paint would have to a type of masonary paint if I went that option. This is on those marble/granite type headstones

I'd be of the opinion that no off-the-shelf consumer-grade gold product isn't going to last in a graveyard.

That's your best bet, leave it to the pro's. I can't imagine that it will cost much.

Thanks. Yes looked at a YouTube video the other day has to be a type of PVA/rubber coat painted on first..

For the price of that bottle alone I'd say the experts price wouldn't be much more.

I am a stonemason the bottle above is a good paint to use

Put a yellow undercoat on and then 2 or 3 coats of gold paint

Scrape off the excess with a blade keeping it flat against stone with a sponge and water
