Major incident declared on Bournemouth beach yesterday afternoon.

Police cordoned off the area and are reported to have pulled 10 injured people from the water near the pier, 2 people have subsequently died (12 year old girl and 17 year old boy)

A man in his 40s has been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter but police are not releasing any details of what happened

There are rumors surfacing that a boat or jetski may have collided with swimmers :(

Very strange, witnesses saw them jumping off the pier and it appears a riptide pulled them out. Given those circumstances and the statement that there was no collision of any kind I am unsure how an arrest was made for manslaughter. Was there dangerous horseplay amongst a group of swimmers?

Could a boat or jet ski passing fast and close by create a momentary dangerous wake - disorienting someone in the water? Even without a direct contact.

That seems like sound reasoning odyssey, and perhaps the action you describe was deliberately repeated. An arrest for manslaughter certainly would be something Police have to give careful consideration to. I very much doubt it has materialised out of nothing.

Daily Express are reporting this as a theory being worked on by the Police. That the area of the pier is much closer to the water for fishing and boarding boats, some guy came past in a jet ski and swept them all off into the water.

Police didn't say much.

Didn't involve a jetski, didn't involve anyone jumping from the pier. Man arrested was "on the water". All 10 injured people were "in the water", No physical contact between the swimmers and a vessel.

Caught in a boat wake seems the most likely scenario

I was thinking that it may have been a banana boat incident, pure speculation and I don't know if they do those types of craft at that location.
