    Hello,

    UK-based, but this shouldn't be geographically significant. Looking at investing by buying up 4/5 acres of woodland in southern England in the next year or two. It's near a village which is probably going to get a lot of investment in it, which means in 20/30 years it might make the land useful financially, however I'm not too bothered by that. I'm keen to have some quiet space to escape to, camp, write, rest etc. We're allowed logging cabins here as long as they are used to workers (myself) tending the land/forest so no bother with taking in a caravan or creating a small covered hut. Has anyone here done similar? I'm quite familiar with living outdoors (primarily in tents) and the hardships that go with it, and I'm looking to hear from anyone who has done this with the primary intention to have a small bit of acreage to manage, get some firewood, etc.

    If the plan is ridiculous, you can come say that. Just keen to hear how others found it long term.
