Painting Bathroom Fittings

    Hi lads,

I've recently moved into a house from the early 90s that is in need of renovation. for the most part, this is just a case of painting, but the main bathroom is looking very dated. The bath, sink and toilet, whilst fully functional, are all an off-white colour that I dislike greatly. I don't presently have the funds to get them replaced, so I was wondering whether it would be possible to paint them.

Having looked online, I can see that there are a number of products that can be used to paint bathroom fixtures. I just wanted to ask whether anyone has any recommendations or advice in this regard? The toilet and the sink are ceramic, but the bathtub is plastic, if that makes a difference (probably it does).

Any help is always appreciated :)

Have you considered seeing if you can pick up second hand units and replacing them? You often find people pulling out perfect bathroom suites because they want to convert a bathroom with a bath to a wetroom or simply for the sake of a change...

When we moved in our main bathroom had "charming" pink sanitary ware in the family bathroom. I picked up a bath, wash-hand basin and toilet off Adverts for €50, picked up some new fittings for them for about €100 and replaced it myself. Fairly easy job tbh and would be even cheaper if the existing taps etc. are ok just don't forget you'll need to replace the rubber coupling seal between the cistern and the pan.

Paint is never going to last on sanitaryware imo.

It may be a runner for the toilet, but the bath is would be a big bit of work to replace, as with the sink. Even with the toilet, I'm not the best with plumbing :(
