Convictions and 651 subclass E-Visa

I have applied for an Australian E visa and it was granted for a 3 month stay.

I've 9 previous convictions for driving and an assault. I declared I didn't have any on visa and it was approved. Do they do any further checks on arrival in oz.

It's very unlikely that there will be any further checks in Australia.

The convictions would only be an issue if the sentences for any of the convictions were for more than 12 months.

The convictions themselves wouldn't be an issue if the sentences totalled less than 12 months.

But having lied about the convictions in the application could be.

However I agree with aido79 that further checks are unlikely.

Australia does have reciprocal arrangements with many other countries for sharing criminal records, and I would be surprised if Ireland wasn't one of those other countries. But, if they had wanted to, the time for invoking those arrangements and checking your convictions was when you applied for the visa. It wouldn't make sense to not bother checking when granting the visa, and check only when you arrive in the country; deporting you at that point is far more trouble and expense and grief for them than simply denying you the visa in the first place would have been. So I think it's very unlikely they will access your records when you land at Sydney, or wherever.

Unless you do something to draw yourself to their attention, it is unlikely that they will independently verify what you told them when you applied for the visa. I can't give you any guarantees about that, but I think it's unlikely.
