What are you using as a topper?

A lot will depend on the ground - whether it is steep, soft, etc and the amount of stems/rushes you are cutting.

We use a disc mower for topping behind a Fiat 880 but it's dry grassland with the odd hill. We'd be topping thistles and docks and I would drive in high second most of the time.

Rpm 540 and around 7mph in whatever gear it'll drive in comfortably

Yes 2nd high unless very heavy rush,

In some of the flat fields I put it in 3rd high, ground drive pto and set pto to 1000, keep min revs.

    But it's a bigger fiat.
