Cairns - Recommendation for excursions

Hi All We are staying in Cairns and Port Douglas for a week in July. There are numerous options to snorkel, visit the Daintree, experience aboriginal life etc. etc. I was just wondering if anyone had any personal experience / recommendations on what to do when there?
