Starting new job registering with revenue question?

I started a new job last week and when I went to register the job with ROS online I was already registered with the company. Induction was the next day and we were told to make sure we were registered. I said to the HR manager I logged on last night and It seems I'm already set up. HR manager says that's impossible because under GDPR rules they can't register me I have to do it myself. Just checked right now and I am registered for tax. Am I doing something wrong? My last job was the same they registered me the 1st day I started I didn't do anything.
