No, even if we could organise ourselves enough to hold it and had the venues and facilities to support it, we don't have the transport infrastructure to handle the traffic that could be expected for a world event. Coupled with the fact that we are a small damp rock on the far western fringe of Europe, where there are far more countries that could do it better and with easier access for attendees.

Didn't Enda Kenny have a crazy idea a few years ago of renting out the midlands to the Chinese to develop a world exhibition park for their industries. The idea being that people in Europe could come here to see all that China had to offer, without actually having to go there. It was a fcukin' mad idea on so many levels that I am surprised his handlers allowed him to say it in public. The Chinese Governmant politely declined his offer and instead decided to go for world domination through Tic Toc.

Sure look at the controversy over the Puck Fair every year, a World Fair here would be a disaster 😁
