I picked up Stalingrad, Moscow, Kuban & Bodenplatte during the recent IC2 sale. The plan is to play VR via Quest 2 and a Thrustmaster HOTAS. I have a lot of setting up to do, particularly with HOTAS, Keybinds and keyboard layout.

I'm hoping that there are some Boardsies playing? I need to put in quite a few hours before I join a server but if anyone knows where the most Irish play? Let me know, along with any tips or tricks you have learned the hard way playing this game?

IL2 1946 will never be surpassed .Crude-ish as ages but range of planes , maps , flight and damage models make it the king .Had a few goes in the one you mentioned years ago .Pitiful planeset .Arcade flight model .

IL2 1946 with the SAS, BAT and IL2GE mods really do make 1946 a wonderfully long lived game. Breathes new live into it.

That said, I can't agree with you that IL2 great battles has a poor/arcade style flight model. I do agree with you on the plane set tho, it's miniscule compared to modded IL2 1946

A YouTube Channel Showtime112 used IL2 1946 to make many of his videos. Very insightful and informative.

Apologies for missing your reply until now. Thanks for the lead, I've got a plan for my weekend now 😂

I'm flying in VR via a quest 2 and I'm really enjoying the sense of immersion & graphics. I'm seriously considering a new HOTAS now tho, something more compatible with VR than my old T.flight HOTAS.

I've picked up all the additional Great Battles expansion packs for this over the last year via various sales. The Normandy edition in particular is brilliant IMO.

I haven't bothered with the WW1 expansion or tanks but the SIM quality is brilliant and I am really looking forward to seeing how their new Korea based sim turns out.

I still fly IL2:1946 on occasion too but great battles really is a pet above.

I do need to update from my thrustmaster HOTAS and have my eye on an x56 or if I stretch the budget a virpil set up.

I picked them up but never found time to play them… I used to watch Taff in Exile on YouTube playing it though
